What do you think, one cat or two?  Feel free to leave lengthy advice.

Personally, if I didn't have roommates, or had roommates who loved cats like me, then I would have two so they could keep each other company.

But for you, since you've never owned a cat, I'd start with one. Maybe in 6 months or a year you could get a second, if all is going well and you've got the hang of the cat owner thing. Just remember 2 cats is twice the cat food to buy, a catbox that needs to be cleaned twice as often, twice the potential hairballs and throwup to clean up, etc, but it's also twice the love and the twice the companionship! Rouble does great by himself, but I know that Gracie would do better with a friend.
